President – Richard Leblond

Richard was born in Montreal, Canada. He worked as a Consulting Actuary successively in Calgary, Alberta, Chicago, Illinois, Louisville, Kentucky, and New York City. While in New York, he was Consulting Actuary to the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund and to several international organizations such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, to name but just a few. In 1986, he moved to Brussels for 3 years, then to Madrid for 6 months and finally to Nyon, Switzerland where he spent the last 13 years of his career. While in Switzerland, Richard continued to provide actuarial advice to several International Organizations based in Europe, such as the OECD, NATO, the European Council, the European Patent Office, etc. After his retirement in 2001, he moved to the South of France with his wife Michelle. Their main hobbies include going to operas and concerts, meeting friends and traveling. They also enjoy going on cruises. Michelle and Richard joined the American Club in 2014. Richard became Governor in 2016 and was the Club Treasurer between 2017 – 2019.

Vice President & Membership Coordinator – Cynthia (Cy) Todd

Cy Todd is a 12th generation American, from Michigan, living on the French Riviera as a permanent resident since 2008. She has spent her entire professional career of 40+ years working for a non-profit organization. She served as the ACR Membership Coordinator from 2013-2019, returning now to help the club as Vice President/Membership Coordinator, helping to roll out the new membership and website platforms. Cy has her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Northern Michigan University and lives in Cagnes sur Mer, France.

Secretary & Legal Advisor- Sandra van Essche

Sandra was born in New York City and raised both in the U.S. and the South of France/ Monaco. She is a U.S. trained corporate and securities law attorney with experience in international commercial transactions, IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity investments. She has worked both at law firms and in-house, spending ten years at a global satellite telecommunications provider and three years at a publicly traded hedge fund. Sandra moved back to Monaco about seven years ago, where she is an independent business development consultant. She has worked with a variety of clients, including most recently, a private healthcare investment fund (part of a Swiss pharmaceutical group) that invests in biotech and MedTech startups. She is on the Board of the Princess Grace Foundation USA – a US charity that supports emerging artists in theatre, dance, and film. She has a B.A. from Smith College and a J.D. from New York Law School and is a member of the NY Bar.

Treasurer – Percy Beck Roervig

Percy, a Danish citizen, first traveled to the United States when he was 16 years old (1961) with his parents. He spent a year at the United Nations International School in New York. In Denmark, he trained as an air force pilot, which included a stint in the Canadian air force as part of a cooperation arrangement between the two countries. In 1969, Percy joined Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) and has a total of 37 years of flying experience which includes flying the F100 Supersabre, F104 Starfighter, DC-8, 747, DC-9, MD-80, and MD-90 and last the 767. He retired in 1999 as a Captain.

Percy considers New York his second home (he recently sold an apartment he owned for seven years) due to the many stop-overs and friends he made there. Throughout his career, Percy was involved in a variety of businesses, (a women’s fashion agency and retailer, a hotel and real estate business, a watch and spectacles company and restaurant business). Percy has a keen interest in architecture and designed and partly built his home in Denmark. His hobbies include horseback riding, tennis, skiing, sailing and recently golf. He and his wife, Lena moved to France in 2007, and initially lived on their boat in La Napoule. In 2009 they bought the apartment in Cannes they still reside in. Percy is excited to be part of the American Club both in France and in Denmark.

Governor

Barbara Saxby

Barbara is from the San Francisco Bay Area and has been living in Antibes for two years after three years in Paris. She is a strategic marketing executive with 25 years of experience in communications, product marketing, market research/analysis, and international business development in the tech industry. As an interim VP/CMO, she positioned and launched dozens of software companies. She built a successful consulting firm to a team of 30 and oversaw complex projects for mid-large enterprises to improve marketing and sales operations. Her consulting work is focused on interim management services to startups to accelerate growth and advising European companies how to enter and be successful in the US market. She has degrees in Psychology and Sociology from San Jose State University. She is active in the community with Sophia Business Angels and the International Women’s Club of the Riviera.

Ian Ross

Ian was born in England and became a business solicitor in the City of London with Slaughter & May, and later an avocat at the Paris bar. After obtaining an MBA from INSEAD (Fontainebleau), he worked for Wells Fargo Bank and subsequently for various financial institutions in London, Paris, Geneva, and Nassau (Bahamas) – where he was Chairman of the Association of International Banks and Trust Companies, and a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization of the United States.(YPO). He finished his career in Jeddah as General Counsel for a Saudi Arabian Group.

Ian enjoys worldwide adventure travel, his preferred country being China.  He lived for a few months in Beijing after retirement. He speaks French and German (but, to his regret, never mastered Chinese).  He is a former Chairman of the British Association of the Alpes-Maritimes.

Jean-Pierre Simon

Jean-Pierre Simon, who is French was born in Drancy, close to Paris. He has worked most of his active life for the Michelin Tire Co. in the Hotel-Restaurants Red Guide department, first as an inspector and as Chief-Editor.
Jean-Pierre also worked as a commercial engineer in the tire business in Africa and the South Pacific. For the Red Guides, he created and/or managed guides in the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Benelux, and the USA. Jean-Pierre enjoys reading (biographies, history, novels), and is a member of a Rotary Club. He and his wife Peggy live in Nice, with regular visits to Paris. They have one son and four grandkids (three girls and one boy).

Timothy Molyneux

Timothy Molyneux is a Canadian Telecommunications and Data Consultant residing in the VAR. A few of Tim’s hobbies are Amateur Radio, computers, skiing, biking, music, as well as assisting the Cote d’Azur Polo Club and several charitable organizations with their events.

Daniel Lacy

Dan was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. The son of a US Navy Officer and a French/Danish mother and grew up on military bases in the U.S. and overseas.

After graduating from Occidental College in Los Angeles, he began his career in Strategic Planning, Branding and Advertising working at multinational marketing communications agencies including Young & Rubicam, Ogilvy & Mather, and J. Walter Thompson.

 Dan served in senior management positions in Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, and Tokyo. Clients included Walt Disney Company, Visa International, Volvo, Colgate-Palmolive, MontBlanc, Kellogg’s, Princess Cruises, Sony, Frito-Lay, Piaget, Citibank and Adobe Software.

After years on the Agency side, Dan was recruited to the Client-side and joined the Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Dan recently celebrated his 30 year wedding anniversary with his wife Michelle. They have one son Grant who lives in New York.

Dan has been coming to the Cote D’Azur since 1958 where both his grandparents and parents retired. The Lacy’s are now the third generation to live in their family’s Riviera home.

Karen Doyle

Karen was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, where her two children and five grandchildren currently reside. She came to France in 2005 and lived in a small village in the Alpes de Haute Provence before moving to Beaulieu-sur-Mer two years ago. She joined the American Club while still living north of Aix, knowing that she loved the sea and would eventually settle on the Côte d’Azur. After earning her B.A. and M.A. in Spanish language and literature, she spent her career years as a Spanish Professor, Bilingual Coordinator and Translator in California, Oregon, Hawaii, Thailand and Mexico. She has always loved travel and languages. She has an active lifestyle, is an avid ballroom dancer and enjoys long walks, biking, theater, museums, and reading and writing on her terrace with its magnificent view.

Sonia Lind

Sonja was born in The Commonwealth of Dominica, a Caribbean island between Martinique and Guadeloupe. After graduation, she moved to New York to work as a bond trader for a major financial firm. In the 80’s, she moved to London to join her husband Bernie.
They bought an apartment in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in the year 2000 and quickly joined the American Club of the Riviera. They love the South of France and spend as much time as possible here. They enjoy the many activities organized by the ACR and the opportunity to meet and spend time with like-minded people at interesting events in this beautiful corner of the world.

Angelika Trautwein

Angelika was born in Bonn, when it still was Germany’s capital. She started studies there, but moved with her husband to Aachen, where she worked as a secondary school teacher. Aachen having a town twinning with Arlington, Angelika joined the Aachen-Arlington Association and was member of its Board for many years. Her travels to the US began already after she had left school and several trips to many different parts of the USA followed, as well as to Canada and Australia. In 2004, she and her husband bought an apartment in Nice. Since their retirement, they spend a large portion of their time in the South of France, but sometimes go back to their roots – to Bonn.
