Saturday 16th June – A guided tour of Antibes Old Town and Picasso Museum, followed by a Lebanese lunch

Dear Members and Friends,

Please join us for a fabulous day by the sea in Antibes starting with a private guided tour of the famous Picasso museum. Antibes was built upon the foundations of the ancient Greek town of Antipolis. In the 12th century, Monaco’s ruling family constructed The Chateau Grimaldi, which faces the Mediterranean Sea above the rampart walls, which were built to protect the city. In 1946 the Chateau was the home for six months to the artist Pablo Picasso and is now used today as The Picasso Museum, which is the first of now many museums in the world dedicated to the world famous artist.

Picasso himself donated works to the museum and in 1990 widow Jacqueline Picasso bequeathed works to the museum….many of which were made down the road in Vallauris at the Madoura Pottery.

Antibes is also the home to Port Vauban, the largest yachting harbor in Europe, which can accommodate boats of more than 100 meters. Our lunch will celebrate the city’s maritime traditions as we dine while looking at the Mediterranean Sea.

Our licensed English-speaking guides will take two groups on a brief tour of the Old Town and through the Picasso Museum before we gather for lunch.
